Director of Health Services: Leslie Stolts, MSN, RN, BC

Over the past few weeks, we have experienced a rise in illnesses, including the flu, COVID-19, pneumonia, and strep throat. We kindly ask for your cooperation and vigilance to ensure our students and staff's health and safety.
Symptoms:
Please monitor your child for the following symptoms and keep them home if they are unwell:
Flu: fever (greater than 100℉), chills, cough, sore throat, muscle or body aches, fatigue, and sometimes vomiting or diarrhea.
COVID-19: Fever (greater than 100℉), cough, sore throat, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, headache, congestion, or shortness of breath.
Strep Throat: Sudden sore throat, pain when swallowing, fever (greater than 100℉), red or swollen tonsils (sometimes with white patches), swollen lymph nodes in the neck.
Pneumonia: Cough (which may produce green, yellow, or bloody mucus), fever (greater than 100℉), chills, shortness of breath, chest pain when breathing or coughing, fatigue, and rapid breathing or heartbeat.
Gastroenteritis (stomach bug): Fever (greater than 100℉), nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, headache, abdominal pain, body aches, loss of appetite.
Reporting Illness:
If your child is diagnosed with any of these illnesses, please notify the school nurse immediately. Your school nurse will provide instructions on when your student can safely return to school. By reporting, you also help us to monitor data on the district's numbers, which can guide decisions to keep our schools as healthy as possible.
Preventive Measures:
We strongly encourage frequent handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and keeping sick children home until they have had at least 24 hours where they have had improvement in their symptoms AND are fever-free (less than 100℉) without medication. If you have concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school nurse.
COVID Tests are available through the USPS again!
Please click here to order up to 4 tests per household.
Tests will be shipped starting 9/30/24.
Massachusetts Covid Guidelines are now aligned with the CDC.
Those positive for COVID should remain home until their symptoms have improved and their fevers have also resolved for at least 24 hours (without the use of medications).

Health Services and Screenings
Every year, students among all levels participate in a variety of health screenings. Each of these screenings are described in this section's slideshow. Click on any slide to enlarge, pause, or get more information.
Parents/guardians are notified of failures following each screening. Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99), screening results may also be shared with students' teacher, reading specialist, IEP provider or school personnel with legitimate educational interest when needed.
